October Paper Jam Article Round-Up!

From the RWC Coordinator, Dr. Borofka:

The air is getting cooler in the mornings and evenings, and despite the recent fires, there is a definite shift in how the air smells. Walking around campus, you can see some leaf colors shifting ever so slightly. The dampness under the pine trees gives off the same scent of national forests not so far from here. Because temperature drop is necessary before the deciduous leaves really begin to change, it will be some more time before we see full Fall color.

However, one thing that is not far away is the scent of Pumpkin Spice! Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte made its first appearance over 18 years ago, (HEY!!! it is the same age as our RC Reading/Writing Center!) and because it has been so popular, (also like us !), it is back every year about this time. This combination of espresso, steamed milk, real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove just conjures the fall for me every time I catch a whiff. When my youngest daughter was in college, one of her dorm mates was a pumpkin spice fanatic and we were soon introduced to ALL kinds of pumpkin deliciousness -from cookies, coffee cakes, doughnuts, bars, to ice cream. So even though the cooler weather and change in foliage takes some more time to show up here in the Central Valley, we can all still enjoy Pumpkin Spice for the next few months!

We invite you to grab a coffee, tea, or Pumpkin Spice Latte (If you feel adventurous, you can try to make your own!! https://copykat.com/starbucks-pumpkin-spice-latte/) and take a few minutes to read the articles we have curated for your enjoyment this month.

Happy October everyone!!!
