Judith Blume is an American writer of children's, young adult, and adult fiction books. Blume began writing in 1959 and has published more than 25 novels. One of her best-known works is Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. Judy was a lifelong reader. She first began writing through a New York University course as her children were attending preschool. She began writing when she experienced some traumatic events in her hometown. She found that the best way to release these traumatic emotions was to write them out. She fell in love with writing about her experiences and decided to publish her first book in 1969 after two years of rejection. Her kids were her biggest motivators in life.

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is a 1970 novel by Judy Blume, typically categorized as a young adult book. It follows a sixth-grade girl who has grown up without a religious affiliation due to her parents' interfaith marriage. The novel explores her quest in search of a single religion while confronting typical issues faced by early adolescent girls.
