"Quotes From a Film Fanatic: Zombies and Grief. . ." By Eli Felipe

“I could die, I used to think if it happened, it happened, but now that would make Coco an orphan, and I cannot die”
- Character, Rosita Espinosa (The Walking Dead)
We all have something we cherish in this life, maybe as of this moment you have it or you lost it. I had something I cherished, something I wished I payed more attention to, something I could never get back, but back then when I did have them, they meant everything to me. I would have fought for them and lived for them. Their names were Wanda and Rosey. They were sisters. They were my dogs. My whole life I grew up with dogs, and I lost so many over the years. To some people they were just dogs, but not to me. I loved them more than my own family because they were there for me, and they never did hurt me. They were there for me when I needed them the most. Before they came into my life, I had nothing and nothing mattered to me. When they were in my life, I had something that meant everything. Now that they are gone, I, once again, have nothing and nothing matters. We need to remember when we have something we cherish, we fight for it, we live for it, and we love it to the very end.
“I've always been kind of a loner, I avoided other people like they were zombies, even before they were zombies, now that they are all zombies, I kind of miss people” - Character, Columbus (Zombieland)
It's crazy how badly we might miss something that’s not in our lives anymore. The idea of something we once had, will stay in your head forever. Whether it was a person, pet or thing, we can’t help but miss it, and life feels so different, until different becomes normal. Then, up until something else happens, it goes back to being different. Life is not easy, it is not fair, even to the nicest and kindest of people. We are all going to lose something in our life, but we have to remember to hold onto it for as long as we can, it will feel different once it is over, but that’s life. We are going to miss whoever we are going to lose, but we must carry on for them, and someone will do the same for us, and so forth.

My name is Eli Felipe, and this is the second article I have written for the Paper Jam. Not only was this a fitting theme for the October Paper Jam , but it also being the month of Halloween, it just works so well. I love zombie movies, tv shows and games. Would I survive a zombie apocalypse? No, but I would give it my all till the very end, and I would probably die within the first two weeks.
