Now that Brat summer is officially over it is time for some autumn melodies. I want to suggest some fall tunes that you can sit back and yearn to. These are some of my personal favorite albums that are perfect to get into that cozy autumn vibe!
Folklore by Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift explores themes of escapism, nostalgia, and romanticism in her Folklore album. These mellow songs represent an intimate tale of love, wonder, and whimsy. The song, "Hoax", delves into a faithless love and the foreverness of it. Consider wrapping yourself in a warm blanket and tuning in!
“Don’t want no other shade of blue but you / No other sadness in the world would do”
Songs by Adrianne Lenker
Adrianne Lenker’s album, songs, creates an atmosphere of heartbreak and wanting. When you are sitting alone with your thoughts this album can bring you a sense of warmth with Lenker’s melancholic voice. It makes being inside on a rainy day less lonely. Not a lot, just forever became my favorite because its exploration of the smallness of love and connection.
“Weren’t we the stars in Heaven? / Weren’t we the salt in the sea?”
This Is How Tomorrow Moves by Beabadoobee
Beabadoobee does some soul-searching in her album This Is How Tomorrow Moves. It is about coming to terms with the past being behind you, and the future of becoming your true self. As the weather changes, listening to this album can help you in turning a new leaf. Her song, "California", captures the essence of taking the next chapter in life and pushing against the hardships which makes it my personal favorite song.
"Moments that cease to exist / Only wanna fix it with a kiss on the lips”
Submarine by The Marías
The album Submarine by The Marías represents solitude, exploration, and perseverance. María Zardoya, the lead singer, shares, “When you’re ready to listen to it, throw some headphones on, find a quiet place where you can be with your inner world and dive in without looking back.” My favorite song from this album is "No One Noticed" as it delves into unrequited love and its vulnerabilities.
“No one tried / To read my eyes / No one but you.”
